Star-Studded Lineup: Jean Smart, Ariana Grande, and Michael Keaton Set to Host ‘SNL’ Season 50

NEW YORK (AP) — Following her recent Emmy win, Jean Smart will bring her comedic talents to a broader audience as she kicks off the historic 50th season of “Saturday Night Live.” Smart is set to host the premiere on September 28, joined by musical guest Jelly Roll, who recently performed his emotional tribute during the Emmys’ in memoriam segment.

This will mark Smart’s inaugural hosting stint on “SNL,” a milestone she excitedly announced on Instagram, describing it as a “bucket list” achievement for her. Jelly Roll will also be making his debut on the show.

Following Smart’s taping, comedian Nate Bargatze will return to host the next episode on October 5, alongside Coldplay as the musical act. Bargatze previously drew widespread acclaim for his humorous portrayal of George Washington during his last hosting in October.

Ariana Grande, who stars in the upcoming film adaptation of “Wicked”, will host for the second time on October 12, with the legendary Stevie Nicks performing as the musical guest. Nicks will be making a return to “SNL,” having last performed on the show in 1983.

On October 19, Michael Keaton, known for his role in “Beetlejuice,” will host for the fourth time, just before Halloween, with Billie Eilish joining as the musical guest, also marking her fourth appearance on the show.

Finally, “SNL” alum John Mulaney will host for a sixth time on November 2, with Chappell Roan as the musical guest. Mulaney, who previously served as a writer for “SNL,” is acclaimed for creating some of the show’s most memorable sketches, including the beloved character Stefon.

The anticipation for “SNL” Season 50 has been palpable during the show’s summer hiatus. Fans are eager for the return of familiar faces, calling for Maya Rudolph to reprise her role as Kamala Harris, and many have expressed hopes of seeing Steve Martin make an appearance, although he has declined to return in this capacity.
