NEW YORK (AP) — It appears that pop sensation Taylor Swift and her partner, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, enjoy catching a baseball game as well.
On Monday night, the couple was spotted at Yankee Stadium for Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, where the Cleveland Guardians faced off against the New York Yankees. They watched the game from a suite situated down the right-field line, just above the historic postseason bunting and a flag honoring the Yankees’ 1932 World Series championship.
Travis Kelce, who hails from Westlake, Ohio and attended high school in nearby Cleveland Heights, wore a dark baseball cap adorned with “Midnight Rodeo” on an unseasonably cool 50-degree evening in the Bronx. Taylor Swift complemented him with her own stylish hat as they cheered for their teams.
This outing marks the second significant sporting event for the couple in New York City in just over five weeks; they previously enjoyed a box seat for the men’s final at the U.S. Open tennis tournament on September 8 in Queens.
Kelce, now 35, grew up as a fan of the Cleveland Guardians, especially fond of player Kenny Lofton during the 1990s. He made headlines earlier this year by throwing a wild ceremonial first pitch before the Guardians’ season opener.
As for the Kansas City Chiefs, they had a bye this past weekend after an impressive start to the season, winning five games in a row. The team’s next challenge will be on Sunday against San Francisco, a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl.
