MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities in Tennessee have arrested a suspect in connection with a deadly shooting after he unintentionally fell through the ceiling of a home where he was hiding.
The suspect, 20-year-old Deario Wilkerson, was taken into custody on Monday in Memphis by a task force from the U.S. Marshals Service, which specializes in tracking down fugitives in the West Tennessee area.
Wilkerson is facing serious charges, including first-degree murder and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, stemming from the shooting death of Troy Cunningham on April 2 in Memphis, according to a news release from the Marshals Service.
The task force managed to locate Wilkerson at a house in Memphis and surrounded the property. While hiding out in the attic, he suddenly fell through the ceiling and was apprehended. Fortunately, he did not sustain any injuries during the fall.
As of now, online court records do not indicate whether Wilkerson has a lawyer to represent him regarding the charges he faces.
