NEW YORK (AP) — The excitement is building for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, set to take place on November 28 at 8:30 a.m. in all time zones. This year’s parade promises an impressive lineup of entertainers and activities, enhancing its status as a cherished holiday tradition.
Among the stars set to perform are renowned singer and actress Jennifer Hudson, dance music sensation Kylie Minogue, and Broadway’s own Billy Porter, known for his role in “Pose.” Their presence highlights an increase in star power over previous years. They will perform in front of the iconic Macy’s Herald Square flagship store.
Joining this star-studded lineup are Cynthia Erivo, a star of “Wicked,” and Cole Escola, the talented lead and writer of the unconventional Broadway hit “Oh, Mary!” Additionally, the show will feature appearances by reality TV personality Ariana Madix, Broadway powerhouse Idina Menzel, hip-hop artist T-Pain, and the country duo Dan + Shay, along with members of the WNBA champions, the New York Liberty.
This year’s performing artists will include acclaimed names such as The War and Treaty, Lea Salonga, Kylie Cantrall, The Temptations, Chlöe, Charli D’Amelio, Jimmy Fallon & The Roots, Coco Jones, Walker Hayes, Rachel Platten, Bishop Briggs, Joey McIntyre, Natti Natasha, and ballet dancers Tiler Peck and Roman Mejia.
Fans can look forward to a parade featuring 17 gigantic character balloons, 22 dazzling floats, 15 novelty and heritage inflatables, 11 marching bands, 700 clowns, and 10 performance groups, all adding to the vibrant spectacle.
The event will be broadcast live on NBC and will stream on Peacock, with hosts Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker from the “Today” show. For Spanish-speaking audiences, a simulcast will be available on Telemundo, hosted by Carlos Adyan and Andrea Meza.
Additionally, Broadway will shine with performances from productions like “Death Becomes Her,” “Hell’s Kitchen”, and “The Outsiders,” along with showcases by the legendary Radio City Rockettes and the renowned dancers of “Riverdance.”
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has become a staple for holiday celebrations, drawing enthusiastic crowds along the route as attendees cheer for the floats, entertainers, and marching bands. Last year’s headliner was the iconic Cher, setting high expectations for this year’s event.
