YOUNTVILLE, Calif. (AP) — Artem Chigvintsev, a professional dancer known for “Dancing With the Stars,” was arrested on Thursday in northern California on a charge of domestic violence, as confirmed by the local sheriff’s office.
The incident began when deputies from the Napa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of domestic violence in Yountville. Upon their arrival, they determined that there were signs of possible abuse, leading to Chigvintsev’s arrest, according to spokesperson Henry Wofford.
Wofford explained that Chigvintsev cooperated with the authorities during the encounter and is facing felony domestic violence charges. Such serious charges are typically only pursued when there is credible witness testimony or visible signs indicating that abuse may have occurred. The investigation is still ongoing, and Wofford could not provide any details regarding the alleged victim or their connection to Chigvintsev.
On Thursday afternoon, Chigvintsev was released on bail set at $25,000. Representatives for him have not responded to requests for comment, and it remains unclear if he has obtained legal representation.
