Dodgers’ World Series Victory Nets Players $477,441 Each as MLB Playoff Payout Hits Record $129.1 Million

NEW YORK (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers, who triumphed in the World Series, distributed a full postseason share totaling $477,441. This amount represents a decrease compared to the winners’ shares from 2022 and 2023.

The total pool available this year amounted to a record-setting $129.1 million, driven by expanded playoffs, which surpassed last year’s total of $107.8 million, as reported by the commissioner’s office on Tuesday. The Dodgers decided to allocate their share of this pool, which amounted to $46.47 million, into 79 full shares, 17.49 partial shares, and cash awards of $405,000.

Last year, in 2022, the Dodgers had voted to distribute 94.04 share equivalents, despite their loss in the Division Series. Notably, they had 96.49 full share equivalents this year, which is an increase from the previous year’s 76.56 full shares when the Texas Rangers shared $38.81 million, with each full share worth $506,263.

In comparison, the AL champion New York Yankees had a full share worth $354,572, which is an increase from the $313,634 share that the Arizona Diamondbacks received last year after their World Series defeat against Texas. The Yankees distributed a total of 71 full shares and 16.38 partial shares, resulting in 87.38 full share equivalents.

As for other teams in this year’s playoffs, the shares were allocated as follows:

— Cleveland: $182,663;

— New York Mets: $179,948;

— Detroit: $55,729;

— Philadelphia: $52,278;

— Kansas City: $49,583;

— San Diego: $45,985;

— Baltimore: $11,870;

— Houston: $10,749;

— Milwaukee: $10,013;

— Atlanta: $9,548.

The distribution pool is derived from 60% of the gate receipts obtained from the first four games of the World Series and the League Championship Series, as well as the initial three games of each Division Series and the first two games of each Wild Card Series. Additionally, for each visiting team in the Wild Card Series, travel expenses of up to $100,000 are deducted from the total pool.

The World Series champions receive 36% of the total pool, while the team that loses the Series receives 24%. Each League Championship Series loser is allotted 12%, Division Series losers get 3.3%, and Wild Card Series losers receive 0.8%.
