Bullet Hits Southwest Airlines Aircraft at Dallas Airport, No Injuries Reported

DALLAS (AP) — A Southwest Airlines flight faced an unexpected situation on Friday evening when a bullet hit the right side of the aircraft while it was taxiing at Dallas Love Field Airport, prompting the airline to cancel the flight.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., just before Flight 2494 was set to take off for Indianapolis International Airport, the Boeing 737-800 was struck by gunfire near the cockpit. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among crew or passengers. Following the incident, law enforcement was notified, and the plane returned to the gate for safety.

After the incident, all passengers safely disembarked from the aircraft. The airline confirmed that the affected flight would be replaced with a new one for its travelers, ensuring that they could continue their journey.

In response to the situation, the Dallas Police Department arrived on the scene, and operations at the airport were briefly affected. Runway 13R/31L was temporarily closed but was reopened later that night with minimal disruption to the airport’s activities, as stated in a social media update from Dallas Love Field Airport.
