MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — DHL, a well-known package delivery service, has filed a lawsuit against MyPillow, claiming that the company, founded by Mike Lindell—a prominent figure known for his support of Donald Trump and his controversial statements about the 2020 election—owes nearly $800,000 in unpaid bills.
This lawsuit is just one of many legal challenges faced by MyPillow and Lindell, who has been in the spotlight for promoting false claims regarding election fraud. According to the lawsuit, which was filed on Monday in Hennepin County District Court in Minneapolis, DHL’s eCommerce division asserts that MyPillow violated an agreement requiring them to pay for all delivery services within 15 days of receiving a bill. The two companies had previously reached a settlement in May 2023, where MyPillow agreed to pay $775,000 in 24 monthly payments starting in April of this year.
However, DHL claims that MyPillow has only made partial payments so far, totaling $64,583.34, with the last payment received on June 6. DHL notified MyPillow of their default on July 2. They are now seeking a total of $799,925.59, in addition to interest and attorney fees.
Lindell spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday, stating he was unaware of the lawsuit’s details but mentioned that his company stopped using DHL over a year ago due to an issue he attributed to DHL’s handling of shipments.
This lawsuit is not an isolated incident for Lindell. He is currently facing defamation lawsuits from two voting machine companies, and the lawyers who were defending him in those cases withdrew their services over unpaid legal fees.
MyPillow’s financial situation has become challenging due to a credit crunch last year, which impacted their cash flow. This financial strain followed the loss of Fox News as a major advertising partner and the decision of several national retailers to stop selling their products. In February, a judge upheld a $5 million arbitration award to a software engineer who successfully contested Lindell’s claims that said China had meddled in the 2020 election.
