Hyundai is recalling over 226,000 SUVs and small cars in the United States due to an issue where the rearview camera image may not appear on the display screens. This recall affects specific models from the 2021 and 2022 model years, including certain Santa Fe and Elantra vehicles.
The problem arises from cracks that can develop in the solder joints on the printed circuit board over time, potentially leading to camera failures. This malfunction could hinder visibility for drivers and may increase the risk of accidents, particularly involving pedestrians.
To address this issue, Hyundai will provide free camera replacements for affected vehicles. Owners can expect to receive notification letters starting January 19.
