Intrusions at the Residences of Chiefs’ Star QB Mahomes and Tight End Kelce Last Month

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Last month, the homes of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce were burglarized within days of each other, according to law enforcement reports.

Mahomes expressed his feelings about the situation before practice on Wednesday, stating, “Obviously it’s frustrating, disappointing.” He described the experience as something that no one wants to face, especially when it happens to oneself.

Reports from TMZ indicate that the break-ins occurred right before and on the day of the Chiefs’ 26-13 home win against the New Orleans Saints on October 7. Kelce’s superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift, was in attendance at the game, but fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident.

The first break-in took place the day before a Monday night game. Law enforcement arrived at a residence matching Mahomes’ address in a private, gated community located just south of the Kansas City metro area. The sheriff’s department report obtained by The Associated Press shows that another individual reported a burglary shortly after midnight on October 6, but did not detail any stolen items.

Ronnie Lozano, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department, shared that the investigation remains active but did not provide further details, including whether any arrests had been made. The county prosecutor’s office also did not respond to requests for comment.

Later that evening, around 7:30 p.m., Kelce’s residence in Leawood, an affluent suburb just across the state line in Kansas, was also targeted. The burglary at his home was not reported until the early morning after the game, as indicated in a police report reviewed by the AP. The report did not name Kelce and noted losses totaling $20,000 in cash along with damage to a rear door of the impressive 16,000-square-foot home, which features a wine cellar, a backyard pool, and a six-car garage.

In response to media inquiries, police Captain Jason Ahring refrained from commenting on specific victims, only providing information in cases of fatal incidents. Additionally, Melody Webb, a representative for the Johnson County prosecutor’s office, stated via email that they also had no comment regarding the cases.
