Comedian John Mulaney and actress Olivia Munn have welcomed their second child, a daughter named Méi June Mulaney. This joyful announcement comes shortly after they tied the knot in July.
Munn shared the news on Instagram, revealing that the baby was born through a surrogate on Thursday. In her post, she reflected on the emotional journey of not being able to carry her daughter herself. “I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” she wrote, accompanying her words with a touching photo of the family together in the hospital.
She continued, “When I first met our gestational surrogate, we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding that I knew I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true.”
Munn explained that the name Méi (pronounced ‘may’) means ‘plum’ in Chinese, adding a deep cultural significance to their daughter’s name.
At 42, Mulaney and 44-year-old Munn are also parents to a two-year-old son named Malcolm, whom they welcomed in November 2021. The couple began their romance in 2021 and has quickly formed a beautiful family.
This year has been challenging for Munn, as she bravely revealed her battle with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. In a March interview with People, she expressed how crucial Mulaney’s support was during that difficult time, stating, “It would have felt like climbing an iceberg without him.”
