NEW YORK (AP) — It’s now confirmed that Lana Del Rey has married alligator swamp tour guide Jeremy Dufrene in Louisiana last month.
The couple’s marriage license was filed on Friday with the Lafourche Parish Clerk of Court after weeks of speculation about their relationship. This confirmation came after it was revealed that the license had been signed and returned.
According to the document obtained by The Associated Press, the officiant for the ceremony was Los Angeles pastor Judah Smith, known for his association with Justin Bieber. Interestingly, the fifth track on Del Rey’s recent album, “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” features a song titled “Judah Smith Interlude,” in which Smith is credited as a co-writer.
Reporters from TMZ first brought attention to the marriage license on September 26, noting that it had been obtained earlier on September 23. However, it took some time for the license to be processed and returned to the office.
In Louisiana, marriage licenses typically must be submitted back to the issuing office by the officiant within 10 days of the wedding. Exceptions are made, as confirmed by the clerk’s office. The couple’s license was reportedly set to expire on Wednesday following their nuptials.
Del Rey, 39, and Dufrene, 49, exchanged vows on September 26 at 3:33 p.m. in Des Allemands, Louisiana, where Dufrene works as a captain at Airboat Tours by Arthur. The marriage license lists both of their residences as being in Des Allemands, an unincorporated community located in St. Charles Parish.
While it remains unclear exactly when Del Rey and Dufrene began their romantic relationship, there are photos of the two that date back to 2019, when Del Rey took one of Dufrene’s swamp tours.
The talented artist, who has received 11 Grammy nominations, is celebrated for her nostalgic and romantic pop music, often infused with themes of vintage Americana. Over her career, she has released nine studio albums and is best known for the hit “Summertime Sadness” from her acclaimed 2012 album, “Born to Die.”
As of now, representatives for Del Rey have not issued a confirmation regarding the marriage and did not respond immediately when contacted for comments last month or on Wednesday.
