LOS ANGELES (AP) — Office discussions are about to heat up, as John Krasinski has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2024.
The announcement was made during Tuesday night’s episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Krasinski, who gained fame as the beloved character Jim on the U.S. version of “The Office,” has transitioned into a leading role in action series such as “Jack Ryan” and successfully co-wrote and directed the hit film “A Quiet Place,” which has evolved into a successful franchise.
During a lighthearted interview with People magazine, Krasinski, 45, expressed his shock at receiving the honor, saying, “Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts.” He humorously mused that he initially thought it might be a prank.
In a delightful twist, Krasinski mentioned in the interview that he hopes his wife, fellow actress Emily Blunt, will fulfill her promise of using the magazine cover as wallpaper in their home. The couple, who share two daughters, enjoy sharing lighthearted moments like this in their household.
Taking over the title from last year’s winner, Patrick Dempsey, Krasinski reflected on how the new title might lead to increased responsibilities at home, quipping, “I think it’s going to make me do more household chores.”
Earlier this year, he showcased his sixth directorial work titled “IF,” a whimsical film about imaginary friends that also starred Blunt. Throughout his career, Krasinski has balanced an impressive range of roles, demonstrating versatility from his comedic beginnings to becoming a recognized action star.
The tradition of awarding the Sexiest Man Alive began 40 years ago, with the first recipient being Mel Gibson. Over the years, the title has been given to a variety of A-list celebrities including Brad Pitt, George Clooney, John F. Kennedy Jr., David Beckham, Michael B. Jordan, John Legend, Dwayne Johnson, Paul Rudd, and Pierce Brosnan.
