Queen Camilla Unable to Attend UK’s Remembrance Sunday Due to Chest Infection

LONDON (AP) — Buckingham Palace announced on Saturday that Queen Camilla will not participate in the United Kingdom’s annual remembrance weekend events due to recovery from a chest infection. The 77-year-old queen was intended to join the royal family at the “Festival of Remembrance” held at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Saturday evening and was also set to pay tribute to fallen soldiers during the significant Remembrance Sunday ceremony at the Cenotaph war memorial the next day.

The palace emphasized that the decision was made based on medical advice to ensure that Her Majesty makes a complete recovery from her seasonal chest infection. In a statement, they mentioned her disappointment over not being able to attend these meaningful events.

Meanwhile, King Charles III and his daughter-in-law, Kate, the Princess of Wales, are expected to be present at both remembrance ceremonies. Earlier this year, both Charles and Kate shared their health struggles, with the king revealing he was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February. Despite undergoing treatment, he has been progressively returning to public engagements, including a recent trip to Australia and Samoa.

Kate, who discovered her cancer diagnosis following abdominal surgery, also went through treatment this past year. In September, she expressed her relief at completing chemotherapy, highlighting the challenges she faced during a truly tough year.
